We stayed 2 nights in Zion Valley. The house is located next to a big hill in a wonderful valley next to the river. You drive in Delices to the total end and there you find a sign and you continue driving down the path. Reading all the comments and stories about Moses and the house we were already looking forward to the stay. When we arrived Moses was sitting on the veranda infront of the rooms. After the storm Maria there are 3 rooms left. One is the kitchen, one is Moses room and one the Guestroom. The bathroom is in an extra house. Unfortunately all was really run down and noone is actually doing much here. The bathroom was really disgusting and we had to clean it before use. The little guestroom was ok. We had a bed and lots of wooden benches to put our stuff. All in all we were disappointed of the stay. It was supposed to be a place to live with nature and eating only healthy gardengrown food. BUT all we found were people just sitting on the veranda all day, begging for money and smoking and not caring about anything. We had one time dinner with Moses what was ok, but no highlight (rice with vegetables-most not from garden- and salad with fish) and the breakfast was more then miserable. The second day all we got was one little banana. No tea, no coffee, nothing, just one banana.

Spent 4 nights in Zion valley, and wish I could have extended my stay. Moses, Israel, and the rest of the family were very welcoming and I feel very lucky to have found this little slice of paradise. Located directly above the white river, you are in a great location to hike to Victoria falls. Israel is a knowledgeable guide and will take you up the trail to the falls for 50EC. He charges 300EC for an entire day of showing you the sites around the island. Airport pickup/dropoff is also available for 250EC. Otherwise if you are not renting a car, there's a bus service to Delices departing from the marketplace in Roseau mon-sat at 1pm for 10EC. Moses and his family are in the process of rebuilding following the devestation of hurricane Maria. Current guest facilities include a lovely room with 2 beds (bed and loft bed, with mosquito netting). Shared bathroom facilities and washing machine available. Hammocking/tenting on the deck or surrounding is also available. I rented a hammock with sleeping bag for 50EC per night, or you are welcome to bring your own. Join in on family dinner (which I recommend highly) for 30EC per person. There is also small grocery and bar in Delices within walking distance. There's a very friendly dog on the property who will be more than happy to accompany you up the falls. Give her some bones and you will have a friend for life.

We had an absolutely amazing time. Moses, Ingmari, Junior & Israel are gracious host. You will feel like one of the family! You will have interesting personable conversations while here. The landscape is beautiful, like something out of a picturesque Hollywood movie. We loved waking up to the sounds of the forest, rushing water from the river and the cows grazing on our front lawn! You will also be greeted by cats, chickens and maybe a few goats. The wooden cabins are very rustic, but clean and simple. Linens and towels provided. Main bed has mosquito net, loft bed does not have a net. Windows do not have screens. You have the option to book a cabin or a hammock. Bring lots of sunscreen, bug spray and a flashlight. A Shared modern plumbing washroom with cold shower is located about 20 feet away from cabin. Delices is in a remote area of the island, so we booked some transportation with Moses, including airport pick-up . Junior and Ingmari drive like saints compared to others on the island, you will feel safe in the car with them! Road safety standards are a subjective matter on the island, I would much recommend you allow a local to drive you around or use the public bus is only $2 per person. Hitchhiking is common in the Caribbean and is safe, we hitchhiked some and appreciated not only the ride, but meeting strangers sometimes gives you a perspective and insight that is just by chance interesting and adds to the adventure! . We booked a hike with Israel to Victoria Falls, a must do on your trip! It's a short hike, about 30-45 minutes. once you get there, you can swim in the waterfall's shallow pools. The trail is not clearly marked, so it's best to book a guide with one of Moses's family members. On our own, by recommendation of our host, we walked down the road to the ocean, hung out by the rocky shore then hiked the river back to our cabin. It was a long scenic hike, my advice is come prepared with food, water sandals/hiking shoes and a flashlight just in case the night catches you. The hike took us longer than we expected, about 4 hours, it was a beautiful work-out, would do it again but we wished we had brought some food. That would have made it perfect for us! grateful that Ingmari whipped us up dinner as soon as we arrived back. Fresh water refills are easy and plentiful here, access to clean fresh river water to drink! We drank the river water during our entire stay with no issues. We stayed in 4 different places while on this vacation and I can say without one doubt that Ingmari's cooking is the best on the whole island, fresh, locally grown all seasonally ingredients. She accommodated my teen daughter's vegetarian dairy free diet on last minute notice. Even if you decide to stay somewhere else during your Dominica trip, please make a reservation to eat Ingmari's & Moses cooking, you will love this food, so delicious! The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because there are some amenities that could be added that would make this a 5 star Eco-lodge. I highly recommended you come visit Zion Valley and experience the genuine Rasta island life with Moses & his family!! Final thoughts is simply WOW!
